Sick Day

There is nothing worse than being sick, but when the weather is gray and rainy sometimes it just makes you feel worse. That is today. I automatically feel worse when I don't do something physical right away in the morning as well. So, as you can see, I'm in good shape today! Great.

Doing some research with this time though and figuring out what auditions I want to do this Spring. I'm interested in Cirque du Soleil, but they're having a general audition in Vegas this year which sounds like the cattle call of ALL cattle calls to me. Can you imagine what that would be like? I did a more private audition with Cirque in NYC a few years ago and loved it, but I'm just not sure about this one in January. o_0

I am a firm believer of everything happens for a reason as well as luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity (yadda yadda), BUT...sometimes these auditions seem like total crapshoots which can be SO frustrating. Companies hold auditions without any intentions of hiring all the time and here we are spending and spending and flying all over the place to get a quick thanks but no thanks.

I'm heading to Portland the day after Christmas for an "audition" with an incredible company called Northwest Dance Project. What I like about this one though is that it is a free three day audition/workshop that picked applicants through DVD submissions. So at least we know that they are interested in seeing more from us before we even get out there. I've never been to Portland and am going the hostel route to keep the price down, but am super excited to explore a new city on a new coast. The last time I was out that way was back in the San Francisco Ballet day!
