Age 22: Day 1

I taught yoga tonight to a very new set of beginners. I'm a fairly new teacher which means I am always very well prepared and on my toes, but I must be getting too comfortable these days because I found my mind wandering while teaching. This is NOT GOOD for an obvious number of reasons but in between cueing inhales and exhales I realized that I have an un-read library book checked out that is most definitely overdue and then was thinking about how badly I need to get to bed early tonight since oversleeping has been an issue and then realized my poor class was probably dying to get out of utthita trikonasana. (Sorry guys.)

Well, I am yet to return the library book and am still up writing and it is almost midnight so that daydreaming really helped me out tonight.

Later on in the class, I was pulling everyone out of savasana and reminding them to thank their bodies and minds for the time they spent practicing tonight and as I was bending over to say namaste a wicked thought entered my head and literally said: When the hell was the last time you thanked ME!? Instead I said, "Namaste."

But really. It stuck with me. Here I am teaching all these people to be calm and relaxed and kind to themselves and I am the one who needs the yoga practice the most. (Note to self: get on the mat more). After all, yoga teachers are human too.

_____________

For those of you who have been following this for a while now, I brought groceries to Grams and spent part of the evening with her and the ladies tonight. Grandma did not remember that yesterday was my birthday even though it was on her calendar right in front of her: "Paige's 22 Birthday". It's heartbreaking to see her lose it a little more every day.

Something was on TV that led me to ask what she thought made a happy marriage and the answer was love and forgiveness. (Just thought I'd share the wise words of an 82 year old woman who was married for 60+ years.) Lets be honest here, I think she is fully aware that I need all the tips I can get.

Anyone else want to cheers to FRIDAY!? Have a great weekend.
